The Saugerties Pro Musica’s 2013/14 season begins with a Big Brass Bang when Munich’s Harmonic Brass returns to Saugerties for it’s biennial North American tour on September 22nd, at 3pm.
Known for their musical precision and crowd-pleasing antics, this European quintet will delight the audience with it’s sometimes serious and sometimes humorous program of classical and popular music. It’s always one of the most popular concerts of the season.
The quintet is composed of: Hans Zellner, trumpet, Gergely Lukács, trumpet, Andreas Binder, french horn, Thomas Lux, trombone, and Manfred Häberlein, tuba. Schooled in the classics, anchored in musical performance and always high on the joy of life, this quintet will make you smile, stomp your feet, and maybe even bring a tear to your eye.
Following the Harmonic Brass on October 20th, is the cello & piano duo of Kalayjian & Kazantsev performing with superb musicianship and consummate style. Then, on November 17th, the annual Bard College Conservatory of Music Student Performance will feature some of the musical stars of tomorrow.
The New Year begins on Jan. 26, with a rousing performance by the youthful Strawberry Hill Fiddlers followed by a free concert by the West Point Highlands Brass Quintet on Feb 16th. The Brazilian Trio brings us to South America on March 16th.
On April 27th, classical music returns with the piano & violin duo of Kobayaski & Seipkes followed by perennial favorites, The Prometheus Brass on May 4th. All concerts will be held at the Saugerties United Methodist Church.
The Saugerties Pro Musica concerts are an extraordinary value. SPM is the work of a small group of dedicated music lovers who’ve served the local community for many years. Their efforts are well worthy of support.

Individual concert prices: Adults $12 and Seniors $10. Students are always free!
