Founded in 2009 by Juilliard graduate, Nadège Foofat, Esopus Chamber Orchestra’s transformative concerts have garnered critical acclaim and sold out concerts.  This first concert of their fourth season explores the disappearing boundary between classical and contemporary music, featuring standard and new works from Natalie Merchant’s repertoire, and includes Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite, based on the Old American Quaker Song, ‘Simple Gifts’.

Esopus Chamber Orchestra is a professional ensemble that recruits highly accomplished musicians from across the Hudson Valley and NY state. Its members have played with musicians as diverse as the New York and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras to Philip Glass.  Esopus draws its name from the Esopus Creek that connects the communities where many of the member musicians live.
