guitar, piano, bass and vocals
After graduating from Bard College, Beekman cut his public performance teeth at a variety of private and corporate functions. His career hit its stride in the late 1980s at a variety of upscale clubs and concert halls, as well as festivals like River to River and George Wein’s JVC Jazz Festival. Recently, Perry was featured at a performance of the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, singing and playing classics from the Great American Songbook.
In 2003, Perry formed a contemporary version of the Nat King Cole trio, with vocals, guitar, piano and bass. He also performs with bass and drums, sometimes adding a multi-reedman for a quartet, as well as performing in duo format with bass.

Since its founding in 1988, the Leipzig String Quartet is considered one of the world’s great chamber ensembles. The Quartet has garnered the attention of international critics and audiences with its distinctive dark timbre and meticulously sculpted interpretations of a widely varied repertoire. Originally formed by the string principals of the renowned Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Quartet continues to uphold the principles of sound and integrity ascribed to this great orchestra. Called “one of the towering and most versatile quartets of our time” by the Neue Zuercher Zeitung and lauded by The New York Times for presenting “rich, mellow, unadulterated beauty” and a true “Leipzig sound.”
The quartet’s recordings span from Mozart to Cage to the complete works of Brahms and has received such international honors as the “Diapason d’Or” and two nominations for the “Cannes Classical Award,” among others.
