Roll's Quick Pick 3

Full disclosure: it has generally been the opinion of this reviewer that the more clever and rococo the song title, the more likely that the title will be the most interesting thing about the song. Frankie and His Fingers deliver a knockout bitch–slap to that notion with this recent EP. Frank McGinnis, he of the fingers (guitar, bass, and vocals) has an Elvis Costello–if–he–were–a–bit–emo lyrical style, and compelling melodies over somewhat askew pop guitar chords. Drummer Sammi Niss propels it with a controlled ferocity, and you will find yourself taken in by this precocious duo… “The Boys Who Cry During the Last Scene of ‘Ghost’ Make Better Boyfriends Anyway,”—with lyrics that sound like a page ripped from the diary of an emotionally charged young artist—will find a resonance in your soul. Unless you are going without these days.
