June Music Highlights
Sa 6/14- ROSENDALE ROCKS THE RIVER music and farm/CSA festival, Rosendale. Supporters of local music and community supported agriculture (CSA…see Roll May issue) have two great reasons to visit the cheery hamlet of Rosendale this month. Morning Brew Café’s Jane Simos will be celebrating her third year of this event with local farmers and CSA owners, a community art project, and a quality line-up of regional favorites: Mark Brown & Uncle Buckle, Rented Mule, Johnny Unstoppable, Kurt Henry, Pamela Sue Mann, Pete Morrison Band, No Breaks, Dog on Fleas, Michael Truckpile, Mike Baglioni and Annie Loeb. Food and refreshments will be available on site, and Wild Hive Farm will be baking fresh bread made with all locally grown grains from their mobile bread oven. Attendees will have the opportunity to join a local CSA, which in these times is a very good idea indeed. 375 Main St., Rosendale, 845.687.4750 or 845.658.3181. 1-10 PM
Sa 6/14- THE ARKHAMS, PITCHFORK MILITIA, DEAD LUCK DEVILLES, and SOUL REAPIN 3 at The Basement, Kingston. It’s a full throttle psychobilly night going down in Kingston town with this fearsome four-band line-up. Queens-based The Arkhams headline the show, holding to a bit more classic rockabilly style. (It’s amazing how many things you can put before “billy.” I’m still not quite sure what in fact “billy” means. Discuss amongst yourselves.) Local badboys Pitchfork Militia, led by the ubiquitous Peter Head, will no doubt set the bar high for all with their full-throttle growl, and Kingston’s own Dead Luck Devilles and Soul Reapin 3 (from New Haven CT) round out a high energy night of “billying.” This will be a hot night in the Basement, be sure to hydrate well. The Basement, 744 Broadway, Kingston, www.myspace.com/thebasement744, 845.340.0744. 8 PM
