The
Revelons- Hip Pop
Independent EP
Roll's Quick Pick 3
From 1978 to 1983,
the Revelons were a New York City club mainstay, filling in
for cancellations at CBGB and working Max’s Kansas City
and the Mudd Club. 20 years after disbanding (in ’83),
singer/guitarist Gregory Lee Pickard and guitarist (and Bearsville
resident) Mark Suall reunited for a compilation CD, and decided
to keep the brand going. This new EP starts with “Ave
Maria,” blending NYC punk/new wave with the classical
original and “The Girl From Ipanema,” and proceeds
to the anti-Beatle “I Don’t Wanna Hold Your Hand,”
and the distorto-cowboy “Satin & Steel.” If
pop can possibly be hip, this represents thusly. www.revelons.com
