Roll's Quick Pick 3

In case you didn’t notice (or you’re just stuck up in the hills), there’s a big river winding through the middle of these parts, a major part of local and national history… remember Sal on the Erie Canal? The Barefoot Boys (Rick Bala on guitar, Rick Hill on bass, guitars, and bowed psaltry, and Tom White on every acoustic instrument on the planet; all three singing) put you right down on the Hudson River waterfront, where “in their ports and in their piers, ‘canawlers’ and whalemen mingled with lumberjacks and landlubbers, who were mixed among sloop captains and steamboat crews. Their singing and playing could be heard down by the wharves, in the taverns and inns nearby, […] songs and tunes were learned from the sailors of the docked clippers, schooners, and whaleboats from other parts of the world.” Great old tunes picked and sung by some true salty dogs.
