Curse of the Psycho (independent)—“I shall place a curse of suffering on you, that will doom you to a living hell,” then the ten-foot thick synthesizer bass kicks in with throbbing eighth notes, drums rumble in, and a mighty reverbed-out surf guitar kick in the riff. Psychocharger’s menacing sneer unfolds, “…with a gun in my hand I will rock and roll!” But it’s more high concept than violence: Mr. Charger is apparently the Son of the King (Elvis, that is) and has stories to tell from the dark side of the grave, through a midnight horror movie lens. It’s also a pretty good party record.
